The Ombra Collection

The Ombra Espresso Cup holds 110ml in hand turned Dibbern fine bone china, the correct volume for a single espresso or short macchiato. The form is the same as the Juno Espresso Cup: the elevated base that defines both collections, the slender profile, the particular translucency of fine bone china that becomes most visible at this scale when the cup is held to light. The difference is the décor. A series of gold lines applied by hand at the Dibbern manufactory in southern Germany wraps the circumference of the cup in the same mark that runs through the Ombra dinner plates, pasta plates and bowls. At 110ml it is present and concentrated. There is very little surface area for the gold to inhabit, which means the lines read with more intensity here than anywhere else in the collection. The result is a small object with a specific weight of intention. Produced to the same standard as the rest of the Dibbern range, with seven times the stability of standard porcelain in a form that weighs almost nothing in the hand. Due to the gold décor this piece is not suitable for microwave use. It is dishwasher safe.
